Bush's military service and Presidential years (with the latter certainly being the more important); further, I agree that Al Gore could have handled his own campaign better (I recall in the debates he acted as if he deserved the office which was probably off-putting to a lot of voters) which could easily have changed the 2000 result, although you're correct that Bush was virtually unbeatable in 2004 so why the CBS team took the chance on their controversial story without stronger verification is beyond me because all it likely did was give him even more support (except to me, but that was a foregone conclusion as well). Thanks for the Rather link, which, as always, adds further substance to the content of the review. Regardless of Florida (which along with W's record may be one reason Jeb is having trouble now), Gore should have won easily. By 2004, W was an incumbent wartime President, almost unbeatable historically. I think the real "truth" about W needs to focus on his decision making processes during his Presidential years. As noted, his father's authorized biography opens the door to this angle that others are sure to follow.

By the way, Dan Rather is still doing shows on AXS TV Tuesdays at 8/7 Central. Schedule Here rjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13025728540081089210noreply@blogger.com
